Hippy flowers: a free cross-stitch pattern

Last updated: Mar 4, 2025 · Maria Bravo · This post may contain affiliate links · 24 Comments

Flores a punto de cruz con patrón gratuito

Following on from my previous Needlework Days last week, I thought I would sneak in another post this month as I have just found a little bit of a treasure. These are my hippy flowers with a free cross stitch pattern.

seventies, hippy, flores a punto de cruz, point de croix, flores hippies

I love hippy flowers, seventies-style, I do love colourful things too. I already told you about the squares of cloth that my "abuela" (Spanish for grandma) prepares for me by crocheting all around the edge. This is one of them, years ago I created this pattern on a notebook, the other day I found it and at the weekend I found the tablecloth that for quite a while covered the glass on the back door of our previous house, before that it was used to cover the square Lack coffee table from Ikea that I had in my flat whenever nice guests came round.

As you can see, I used contrasting colours but feel free to make it your own.

Pink, green, yellow, red, purple, lime, lemon, mantel con flores bordadas a punto de cruz, point de croix

It is a very easy-to-stitch pattern that you can use as one flower or a set of them. I would love to see it stitched in the back pocket of a pair of jeans or a denim skirt.

Below you can see the pattern and you can download it as a PDF here.

I created this way before I discovered the world of Cath Kidston but I think it leaves rather clear that I love her prints, doesn't it? I really do!

Thanks Steph, I do love them. Shame the tablecloth has got some stains that just won't disappear from covering the window of the back door of a very old house.

Don't worry Patricia! It's so lovely of you to comment and I love that you are going to try this, I saw a tutorial earlier today that might help get you started but it was in Spanish, I will look for something similar in English an it will be even better with your aunt by your side, in my case it was my great aunt and my grandmas that helped me, above all to get the back of the stitching right, they were very meticulous about that!

Thank you Catherine, I like bright colours but I always have far too many threads to choose from so it wasn't easy!

Thank you for the warm welcome Wendy. Unfortunately it has some stains from being on the door window that just won't come off so I may well have to recreate it, I do love stitching these flowers so I don't mind at all.

Thank you! Years ago I was called Feisty Tapas as I am a rather determined Spaniard and for ages it was something that stuck to my mind, I'm glad I've been able to put it to good use.

Thank you for popping by. Cross-stitch is really easy, trust me on that one, I am the non-crafty type and I can actually do this! It's very relaxing too
